I gave this car to my 8 year old son in July and we have been having a blast with it. It's really a fantastic value when you consider all that you get for your $120. (see the Toy Story RC car for $120 and you will know what I mean). I do recommend that you take some simple steps to reinforce the body. We use shoe goo and drywall tape all around the inside skirt of the plastic body to keep it from tearing. We also stepped up to the 15T motor to get more speed out of it. I'm guessing that is goes around 18mph out of the box, and it's probably 25mph with the new motor (under $20 on Amazon).
My son hit a mailbox with it and broke the front suspension arm. $5 for a replacement part at the local hobby shop (also on Amazon) and we were back in business. The way I see it, this is a great way for my son to learn about electronics, gears, suspension systems, radios, etc. And it satisfies his need to build a ramp and make things jump and crash. It's a lot safer than a skateboard, and a lot more educational. Highly recommend this as a good hobby starter car for dads and sons.
