If in doubt, BUY IT. We bought the bike as a birthday present for our 3 year old grandson and he loves it. Warning ... the instructions are explicit as to how to put the bike together .... but there is no explanation telling us how to get the birthday boy OFF THE BIKE. He's happpy; we're happy!

Currie Technologies eZip Electric Scooter

I ordered the EZIP 1000 several months ago and have been thoroughly impressed with the value for the money that the scooter has provided since I received it. I originally purchased the scooter to run around my neighborhood. However, I have found myself using it far more than I imagined. The scooter folds up easily so I am able to put it in my car and use it in a variety of places and on various terrains.....it runs great on sidewalks, concrete, grass, and dirt. I weigh 200+lbs and the scooter provides plenty of power and zip. Riding the scooter is very smooth and it's easy to steer thanks to the full suspension. Additionally, the scooter is very quiet. I have enjoyed this scooter very much and would highly recommend it!

Diamondback Tess 24 Jr Girls' Mountain Bike (24-Inch Wheels)

I bought this bike for my 10 yr. daughter, I did not buy it from Amazon, but form REI, I am very handy with bikes, but they put it together for free, for $180 total, it is a steal.
This bike is not light because it has steel frame...standard in this price range. 21 speed Shimano grip shfters and derailler. We rode it now for a year now, seasonal use, no problem at all....For an average handy man, you can put it together within an hour...and please use a bike stand or bike rack when trying to put it together, it is about 40lbs I believe, or put the handelbar first, then put the bike upside down to install the rest of the components..

Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle Trailer (Red/Gray)

I bought this one because I admit I liked how it looked. I looked at some in stores and this is the only one that had padded seats. I am not in shape right now and bought this so I could get in shape. Most of the reviews complain about the weight. Honestly I didn't even notice it behind me (I rode for 40 minutes with no problems.) It turns extremely easy, both directions.

I love that it comes with a stroller wheel and that the tow arm tucks neatly away in stroller form. (I always thought it looked tacky on other trailers when you could clearly see it was a trailer turned stroller with the tow arm in front and tiny wheel to convert to stroller.) It is very easy to convert back and forth.

I noticed that others say it is too big to fit through a door. Yes it doesn't fit with it open but if you fold it (much easier than removing the wheels as other reviews have said) then it easily fits through. I just fold it, carry it out to my bike and attach it. That is another nice thing it folds so it can be put away easily.

Both my girls love it. The only problem we have is when we stop and they want to keep going.

Mongoose Lark Girls' Bike (18-Inch Wheels)

This is a sweet bike as in it's all girl and it's a very nice bike. I'm so not handy, but I did manage to put it together myself in a couple of hours. I will say that the color is not pink as the picture indicates. It's purple with bright pink accents. My daughter is enjoying her new wheels very much. It does not come with a basket/pouch or anything, so we had to purchase a water bottle holder separately from the local bike shop. I also like the 18" size, which is hard to find, but ideal for a first bike.

Diamondback Cobra 20 Jr Boys Mountain Bike (20-Inch Wheels)

This is a great little bike for someone who already knows how to ride a bike. This would not make a good first bike. My son started riding smaller bikes when he was 4 and all of his previous bikes were really cheap but were good for learning. We gave him this one for his 7th birthday and it is really nice. The bike works with much less effort than his earlier bikes largely because the wheel bearings, gearing, brakes, and components are much higher quality. He really likes being able to shift the gears, but he really doesn't know how to use them properly - hopefully that will come soon enough. The only drawbacks are that the bike only has hand brakes, which takes some time for younger riders to master. When they do get it, however, the brakes work much better than a pedal style coaster brake. Also, there is no kick stand, but one can be easily added. One last comment is that we bought this bike from a bike shop and they assembled it and then adjusted it again when we bought it. I'm sure that plays a large role in the quality feel of this bike.

Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike

This toy is very durable and well manufactured...it is loads of fun...i jus got it with my own money and took it out today for the first time...excellent...and the battery life is great if u charge it for the 12 hours as it says in large print... i rate this toy a 10+...very fast and great offroad...HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!!!!

Huffy Green Machine

I purchased this toy for my 12 year old son. I do have to say myself that this toy is quite alot fun. I have enjoyed it myself. I would not recommend this to a child under 8 as the manufacturer states because it can throw you off really easy if you are not coordinated. This toy brought back alot of memories for me from my childhood when I had the old Big Wheel with the pull handle so you could spin out. Wonderful Product and I highly recommend it for your children and yourself as well. It is really alot of fun.

Schwinn Scorcher Boys' Bike (16-Inch Wheels)

Before reading this, please understand that we sold our car last summer, so our family uses bikes for every-day commuting, be it to/from work, to/from preschool, or just grocery shopping. Bikes are less "toys" for us, than hard-working transportation that must function well!

We got this for my son for the holidays, just before his 4th Birthday. There were some issues with the manufacturer that delayed shipping, but the seller made herculean (and successful!) efforts to make sure the bikes all arrived by Christmas.

My husband assembled this bike late Christmas Eve in the livingroom. While the manual was less than helpful for this (Schwinn, apparently, makes one general manual that covers all types of bikes, and therefore doesn't feel it necessary to make model-specific manuals -- or assembly instructions!), he was able to get it ready in a reasonable amount of time. Like all bikes, it comes with the tires deflated, so I had to take it to get air in them. (Perhaps this is why one reviewer complained the tires were fat and soft?)

I was immediately impressed with how sturdy the bike is. Strong. It looked cool -- it was also going to withstand anything my son was likely to put it through in the years to come!

The first time my son tried it, we discovered the training wheels were set too low: The rear tire wasn't making enough contact with the ground to give "drive". A two-second adjust, and that was fixed.

The low "rise" in front of the seat makes it easy for little boys to get on. The combination of coaster and hand-brakes gives many options for learning to stop. One unexpected "bonus"? The front pegs actually keep the weight of the bike OFF the body during falls!

We've had the bike for one month now. He's gone from shakily riding to the corner while I strolled slowly next to him, to riding it to school (a 3-mile trip).

PROS:
* Sturdy contstruction
* "real bike" quality
* coaster AND full-caliper brakes
* Reflectors
* Quick-adjust seat
* Front pegs make falls safer (who knew?)
* Bike is tall enough for an adult to "walk" without breaking their back
* Can easily keep up with an adult on a full-sized bike.

CONS:
* My son's hands are not yet LONG enough to use the caliper brakes, because the levers are so far from the handlebars.
* Handlebar structure makes it difficult to mount a basket
* Training wheels are loud. (But, then, all training wheels are loud.)

Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike

This is a great bike. My 11 year old son loves this bike and rides it almost everyday. The bike has a tremendous amount of power. I weigh 190# and it carried me well on an initial test drive. My 11 year old son who has been riding electric bikes for several years does terrific on this bike. He weighs 65 pounds and is 55" tall. The bike seems to be perfect for him based on his size and experience riding. The bike is interesting in that it is extremely powerful but size wise is designed for kids 9-12 years old. The box says 16 and up, which is ridiculous. The bike seems well designed and has a nice suspension system and dual disk breaks. The price is unbelievable for what you get but I would only recommend it for kids 9- 12 who have experience riding other powered bikes. The tires are pneumatic however they are very hard and knobby. They are fine for off road use but a slip out fast on slick pavement. Over all a great bike for experienced 9-12 year olds who have a non paved surface to ride on. We didn't experience any problems mechanically or electrically.

Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike

This little motorcycle is surprising tough and handles really well! Our son loves it and it's just perfect for parents who want more than a bicycle, more than the toddlers power wheels, but their child just isn't quite ready for a gas powered dirt bike. We thought our Son may need some time to get used to the way a motorcycle handled, but he took right to it. Always be safe and use helmet and pads! Got a great price from Amazon.com, better than anywhere else and we looked for a long time.

Strider PREbike Balance Running Bike

My son loves this bike. We got it for him a few months after he turned 2 and he took to it almost immediately. The only thing I had to teach him was to sit on the seat.

I recommend this over the wood bikes as it is more durable, and the foam tires are maintenance free, no flats. We leave it outside except for when it rains (and occasionally when it rains if I forget) and it has held up well.

This is ideal for young or shorter kids as it has the lowest seat height (11 inches is the min height) of all the ones I researched. My son tried out the scutt bike at a toy store, and he was too short for it at 2 1/2, and he's between the 75th and 90th percentile for height. If your kid is a little older/taller, you might also look into kinderbike (13.5 inch min seat height). They look similar and are ~30% cheeper. I'm only going by the website though, don't know anyone who's owned one before. Balance/running bikes are just awesome overall as most kids don't figure out pedals until they are at least 3 years old and they can go alot faster (= more fun) on balance bikes than tricycles.

You can get replacement hand grips from stridersports.com. If your son/daughter is rough on his bike like mine is, you will need replacements at some time. They are cheap though.

I love this single trailer-for one child but still has room for cargo; diaper bags, etc. It's light too so you can't even tell it's attached to the bike. Makes for comfortable riding for me and my child.

Razor E200 Electric Scooter

I bought this for my 9 year-old daughter and she loves it. I was considering the E100 because of the age recommendations but decided to go with the E200 because of the weight capacity. I'm glad I did. My daughter can handle it just fine and I don't have to worry about an older child getting on it and breaking it.

Radio Flyer 79S Big Flyer

I bought this for my son's 5th birthday and he loves it. I was a little hesitant due to the price versus some of the other "big wheel" bikes but I am so glad I decided on this one. It is very well made and sturdy. I like how easy it is to change the seat positions so my 7 year old daughter can ride it too. My son has mastered how to spin on this and he rides it everyday. I am happy that it has a safety flag on it too, these bikes are so low to the ground it helps cars see him and makes me feel that he is safer than the bikes without flags. I am extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend buying this bike.

John Deere 16" Girls Bike - Pink

Schwinn Roadster 12" Tricycle

This bike is beautiful, well made, and well loved by my son who just turned 3. I had to write a review to combat another review that states that there is a height restriction of 38". The box does have a height chart on it that says Ages 2 to 4, 26" to 38". Since my son is 38" tall and just reaches the pedals on the seat setting closest to the wheel, I emailed the company to let them know of the problem and this is what they wrote back:

"Thank you for contacting us. The minimum height and age recommendation for the Schwinn Roadster is 3 yrs, 38" and up. I will be sure to have the boxes looked at to verify what they say."

Yes, apparently they've made a pretty big mistake on the box, but the fact that the minimum is 38" makes total sense. I hope this helps.

Prince Lionheart Whirl Balance Scooter, Natural/Pink

I purchased the boys version for my son a while back and he loves it! I had to get this for my 3 year old daughter after she tried a bike with training wheels and did not like it. She took a couple of weeks to really get good on it, but now she can really go. It's so neat to see my 3 and 2 year olds showing great balance and loving riding these balance bikes. I would never suggest training wheels to anyone after seeing how natural these bikes work to teach balance and bike handling. Seems to be well made. It even survived a scuffle with my trucks front tire. Stronger than you might think. I do make an effort to keep them inside and not to let them get wet!

Joovy Tricycoo Tricycle

My son is 15 months old and likes his new "Trycycoo" but doesn't love it yet. We take it around the block but eventually he wants out and I carry him home. I'm assuming he'll like it a little more as he gets older. My husband and I on the other hand love it. The tires have a nice rubbery plastic on it which make it easy to ride outside and back inside the house (I've seen the other kind where it's just plastic and the bumps and gross things that get embedded into the wheels that makes a bike hard to use). The handle is easier to use lower than higher up. The bell is a little difficult to "ding" but still makes a cute addition to the bike. Foot rests are a little farther back than we'd like them to be but my son doesn't have any issues keeping his toddler size 7 feet on them. They fold up for when he starts to use the petals. The bucket on the back is a nice touch to keep misc items in there. Overall a great bike.
