Hot Wheels Color Shifters Dr. Bones Color Lab Playset

My 7-year-old boy purchased this with gift cards from his birthday. Assembly was somewhat challenging for me, but once complete he played with it for the rest of the weekend along with his 4-yr-old brother and any friends who happened to be around. It's messy but we put it on the floor on top of an old towel, on top of a yard of old shower curtain. And who can resist the idea of a sponge brain for clean-up?! Bonus: no batteries.

Hot Wheels Criss Cross Crash Track Set

Boys will love this track for a limited time. Watching the cars crash is huge fun for about ten minutes then you'll happily turn it off because it is a loud toy. Requires four D batteries. Comes apart for easy storage. It is easy to reassemble. Everytime we have a playdate this toy comes out. It is played with for the ten minutes before they are on to something else.

Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Daredevil Curve Track Set

I bought this and the drift rally spinout track sets (and now that the starter set is available, I'm about to one-click that one as well).

The setup takes about 20 minutes and is slightly annoying because you have to line up the attachment points pretty exactly or the track won't work super well -- it's a gravity system and as such, if the track is out of alignment then the cars can't get enough speed and can come to a stop mid-track.

But -- once you set it up it is the coolest thing that begs the question -- why hasn't anyone done this before? The 3M strips don't ruin the walls in case you want to move it later (my advice is to buy extra strips (medium size) since the the strips are single use, and the kit only includes 1 extra, and you need 4 for a full install). For example, I used extra strips to stick a track set to the side of the car when we went camping.

Play pattern: My kids are 2 and 4 (boys), and they actually voluntarily take turns at "driving" cars through the set. they start at the top (eldest helps the youngest to get the car started), and then cool stuff happens along the route -- in this case the car goes around a corner on a pivot, then through a see-saw bridge and then flies out the gates at the bottom. extra bonus with this set is that two cars can be stored under the bridge. smart. the only thing the kids fight about is the single car that comes with the set, but what can you do.

I also like that the brackets are two pieces so that the flat part of the bracket can remain attached to the wall (remember the part about alignment taking awhile) and everything else can be snapped off and put away if needed.

Hot Wheels Super 6-Lane Raceway

I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but this toy continues to be a big hit with my boys (ages 5 & 2) more than two weeks after Christmas. I've also been meaning to send an email to the folks at Hot Wheels commending them on their engineering. As other reviewers have mentioned, this track is L-O-N-G; 8 feet according to the box. And although it doesn't "fold up" into one tiny little package, it does all fit together quite nicely and compactly. The assembly and breakdown might be a little tricky for a kid, but it's a snap for Dad. It's a very well thought-out design, not something that was just thrown together. And since money's tight for everyone, it's nice to know you're getting something that - under normal use - will last a while and not end up in the trash.

Hot Wheels 4 Lane Raceway

My son got this for his 3rd birthday. He absolutely LOVES it! It is so easy to set up and then folds back down for easy storage. He has great fun racing down the cars and then looking to see who was first by which flag pops. WHile it is recommended for 5+ years, it is certainly a great toy for even the younger ones!

Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Starter Set

This must be a super new product to not have any reviews. We just purchased this today and it was very easy (thanks to the included template) to install. I love the fact that the system uses the 3M strips to attach to the wall. I initially told my 3 1/2 year old "no, our daddy doesn't want holes in the walls", but then saw the 3M strips on the front of the box! Awesome. There are different ways to manipulate the track as to the car's final destination. Also, the fact, that you can add on systems to make it bigger is a win-win. My 3 1/2 year old and 7year old are currently having a great time "playing together"!
