Carrera Go Disney Cars 2 - World Grand Prix Race Set

OK I admit that I always wanted a good race car track since I was a kid (getting ready to turn the 5-0 this year). Even though I have girls that are 8 & 12 who I though would NEVER ask for a race care set, it finally happened. So needless to say, Santa researched a number of sets, and Carrera is definitely one of the best on the market.

So here goes - set-up does take a couple of hours, but directions are good and it is not complicated - just lots of little snap on pieces. It was actually quite exciting over a few beers as my childhood dream came to fruition! As you assemble (and race with) most tracks, the track pieces work themselves apart. But Carrera uses plastic pieces that snap into sides of each piece, holding them together very nicely. As mentioned in an earlier review, some of the non-essential pieces (like guardrails, banners around the track, etc.) are made of paper, and will get beat up with normal use. However the quality of the core components (the car, track itself, and controllers) is very good. So even though some of the accessories (like cardboard banners that line the track) could have been made a little more sturdy) I'm still giving this 5 start!

And most importantly, and to my enjoyment, both of my girls say it was one of their favorite X-Mas gifts, no exception with the neighborhood kids! I'm in the process of ordering some of the more expensive cars ($40-$60 each) as they are styled after real racing cars, supposedly handle more realistically, have head and brake lights, etc.)

All I will say for those who complain because the cars don't stay on the track ---- if you don't have the patience to learn how to slow down in the corners, it is operator error!!!
