My 8-year-old daughter received this toy for Christmas and loves it. It's fun to shoot and safe enough to use in the house. While we have a "no shooting at people or animals rule" it's really not painful unless shot point blank. I know she's looking forward to better weather and using it outside. So far, the bullets are holding up just fine. This may be a seg into real archery down the road.
