My daughter was given this toy as a Christmas present when she was eight months old, and instantly fell in love with it. She plays with it nearly constantly, even two months later. The plastic letters have been useful teething toys as well as "clap together" implements. And she loves the music, though the novelty of that has worn off a little bit compared to the start - where she actually gasped with excitement whenever she triggered a sound effect.
My only caution: parents will be tempted to remove the batteries after about five minutes! The music and singing is as irritating to an adult as it is fascinating and amusing to an infant. Fortunately, there is a slightly lower volume setting.
